Italian energy supplier Edison SpA is expanding its green energy fleet with a 45-MW portfolio of solar photovoltaic projects in the Piedmont region of northwestern Italy. The company has installed seven plants in the provinces of Turin and Alessandria, bringing its overall solar output in the region to 70 GWh, enough to meet the demand of 26,000 homes.
The new PV arrays were installed by Edison Rinnovabili, with four of the seven sites already online and the remaining three awaiting grid-connection by the end of 2024. Edison plans to invest EUR 5 billion to increase its green energy capacity to 5 GW by 2030 and aims for a 40% green production share in its total generation mix by the end of the decade.
