  • EDF Renewables North America (EDFR) and Clean Power Alliance (CPA) introduced the signing of a 15-year PPA for the Desert Quartzite Solar-plus-Storage project.

The project, consisting of a 300-MWAC solar project coupled with a 600-MWh battery power storage system (BESS), is anticipated to begin delivery of clean power to CPA's clients throughout Los Angeles and Ventura Counties in February 2024. The CPA Board of Directors accepted the lasting agreement throughout its September meeting.

The Desert Quartzite Solar-plus-Storage Project is situated on unincorporated land in Riverside County, California, provided by the Federal Bureau of Land Management (BLM). The BLM marked this area as a Solar Energy Zone (SEZ) and Development Focus Area, land alloted for utility-scale renewable resource development. The project will certainly utilize horizontal single-axis monitoring solar PV innovation; and is expected to create greater than 800 construction jobs.

By combining the solar facility with a power storage remedy, power created during optimal solar hrs can be dispatched later in the day, thereby creating a balance between electrical power generation and demand. Power storage space can further smooth electrical power rates and provide grid security in an eco-friendly means.

" The clean trusted power we will obtain from the Desert Quartzite center fits completely within our objective to boost the lives and environment of our consumers and neighborhoods," said Clean Power Alliance executive director Ted Bardacke. "Our Board has actually determined solar + storage space as being essential to our continued growth and a method to additional boost dependability for our millions of clients. This project will certainly also produce much more green jobs here in Southern California."
