The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and Goldbeck Solar Investment have formed a joint venture to develop up to 500 MWp of solar capacity in Ukraine. The deal was announced at the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Berlin, with the projects expected to be commissioned over the next three to five years. EBRD is financing the initiative, subject to customary conditions precedent.
The newly established company, Goldbeck Solar Investment Ukraine GmbH, has secured a EUR 5 million loan from development bank DEG. The JV transaction is pending regulatory approvals, with planning for the construction of the first solar parks set to begin this autumn.
