Duke Energy powers up 22.6-MW solar park in N Carolina
- US electrical utility holding company Duke Energy Corp (NYSE: DUK) revealed on Thursday it has brought online its 22.6-MW Stony Knoll solar park in North Carolina.
Located in Dobson, in the state's Surry County, the photovoltaic (PV) farm is geared up with 76,600 Trina Solar bifacial modules with single-axis radar and will can creating electrical energy for around 5,000 houses per year. The power outcome will be offered under a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Duke Energy Carolinas.
California-based engineering, procurement as well as construction (EPC) company handled Stony Knoll's construction. The plant is owned as well as operated by Duke's subsidiary Duke Energy Sustainable Solutions (DESS).
Duke Energy maintains over 4,200 MW of solar power on its North Carolina grid and also operates over 40 solar farms in the state. At the beginning of 2022, the utility brought on the internet 2 solar parks in North Carolina amounting to 72.6 MW.
