Duke Energy fires up 34MW Florida battery trio
- Projects include firm's very first storage space center connected to a utility-scale solar plant in the state
US company Duke Energy has actually finished 3 battery energy storage space projects in Gilchrist, Gulf as well as Highlands counties in Florida amounting to almost 34MW.
They include a nearly 18MW lithium battery plant located at the firm's 45MWLake Placid solar farm in Highlands County.
The enhancement of battery storage to the utility-scale solar plant is the initial of its kind for Duke Energy Florida, enabling solar energy to be dispatchable by the firm's grid operators, which boosts overall plant efficiency.
An 11MW battery came online at Trenton west of Gainesville in Gilchrist County, along with the 5.5 MW Cape San Blas facility located southeast of Panama City in Gulf County.
In 2022, Duke Energy will have six battery sites in operation in Florida completing 50MW of energy storage space.
