Dubai Unveils World's Largest Solar Park

The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park is the world’s largest single-site solar park and is set to reach a capacity of 5,000 megawatts (MW) by 2030. The fifth phase, which has been inaugurated by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has a capacity of 900 megawatts (MW) and will provide clean energy to 270,000 residences in Dubai, reducing 1.18 million tonnes of carbon emissions annually. The total capacity of the projects commissioned and under construction combined currently stands at 2,860MW. DEWA has increased the share of clean energy in Dubai’s total installed capacity to 16.3%. In line with the UAE’s vision, Dubai is aiming to generate 25% of its energy from renewable sources by 2030 and 100% by 2050.
