The Department of Defense Production in conjunction with The Ordnance Factory Board has issued an (EOI) Expression of Interest to commission a 5 MW grid-linked solar power plant located at the Varagaon Ordnance Factory. The selected bidders will carry out the design, erection, supply, and commissioning of the solar power project.

The developers will conduct the evacuation of the energy generated and its transmission to the closest substation. The developers will be granted 90 days to complete work on the project. Per the report, the last date for the response to the Expression of Interest is January 17, 2019. The techno-commercial bids are to remain open on said date. A pre-bid meeting was held on January 6, 2019, to tackle the fears of prospective bidders. The purpose of the EOI is to drive solar power generation and facilitate energy conservation.

The OF Varagaon will help to provide an area for the project’s installation. Additionally, the OFV will sign the PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) with the solar energy developer and a PSA (Power Sale Agreement) with the state’s Discom. Recall earlier that the Ordnance Factory Ambajhari had issued a tender, on behalf of the defense department inviting bids for solar power plant development.

The solar power plant will be installed on 2 recently erected buildings BN1 and BN2 inside the OFAJ Factory in Nagpur. The plant will operate for 25 years and successful bidders will conduct maintenance for the rooftop systems for 5 years from when it was commissioned.
