Brazilian power utility Copel has put a 6.7-MWp solar park named Segredo into operation in Parana state. The plant is expected to produce 13.4 GWh per year, meeting the annual demand of 350 of the utility's clients. The facility features 9,720 PV panels and 90 trackers spread over 11 hectares and is part of Copel's new business model, Copel Solar.
Under Copel Solar, the utility will install and operate the assets while customers sign contracts to acquire credits from the plant's output to deduct consumption from their electricity bill. This is part of Copel's efforts to expand its renewable energy portfolio, with another 6.7-MWp solar park also recently put into operation in Parana state.
