- Tap into Greece's renewable energy revolution with Copelouzos' new 400MW solar park! Covering 5,900 acres with 601,000 bifacial PV panels from Trina Solar, it's set to revolutionize the country's energy mix.
Copelouzos, a Greek investment group, has received the environmental permit from the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs to build a 400 megawatt (MW) photovoltaic (PV) solar park in Thessaly, with an estimated value of €216 million. The project will cover an area of 5,900 acres and will connect to the National Electricity Transmission System. The solar farm will be composed of 601,000 bifacial PV panels from Trina Solar and inverters from Huawei Technologies Co Ltd. Copelouzos’ website states that the group has 488MW of renewable power plants currently in operation and 2,730 MW projects under development.
What Is Copelouzos' New €216M Solar Park?
- The project is expected to generate enough power to meet the energy needs of more than 100,000 households in Greece.
- Approximately 1,500 people are expected to be employed during the construction of the park.
- The photovoltaic (PV) solar park will be composed of two different systems: a fixed system and a tracking system.
- The fixed system will have an installed capacity of 350 MW and the tracking system will have an installed capacity of 50 MW.
- It is estimated that the solar park will save approximately 220,000 tons of CO2 emissions annually.
- The park will also feature storage systems in order to maximize the solar energy generated.
- The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2021.
