Solar Energy UK has said the industry is "deeply worried" over recent comments about the sector made by the two Conservative Party candidates for Prime Minister.

Its chief executive Chris Hewett said Liz Truss as well as Rishi Sunak's (visualized) remarks on just how they do not like solar farms were not symphonious with popular opinion.

Sunak has shown he would restrict solar advancement on farmland and turn around recommended steps by the government to allow onshore wind farm development in England.

Truss apparently vowed to "alter the rules" in England to ensure farming is prioritised over new solar projects at a recent Conservative hostings.

Hewlett stated: "The solar sector is deeply worried about Liz Truss and also Rishi Sunak's recent talk about solar farms.

" They offer low-cost, clean power and also time after time have actually been shown to be prominent with the public.

" Yet both candidates for Prime Minister are falling over themselves to state how much they dislike solar farms. Exactly how did we end up in this alternate universe?

" There is a vast swell of capital all set to buy in new solar farms.

" They cut our carbon footprint, displace extortionately pricey fossil fuels, cut bills, create jobs, benefit nature and bolster the nation's power security.

" Generating our very own, home-grown electricity suggests we decrease our dependancy on Russia and the Middle East. This is patently in the UK's critical interest.

" Truss and also Sunak's views are clearly out of line with public opinion, as independent surveys by the federal government itself, YouGov and also Copper Consultancy have demonstrated, continuously.

" 73% of the Conservative Party members that will select our next Prime Minister sustain more solar, including solar farms."
