Clearway Energy as well as Wärtsilä to include battery storage to 5 US solar projects
- Solar developer Clearway Energy will certainly release 500MW/2,000 MWh of battery energy storage space systems (BESS) from innovation firm Wärtsilä at five PV plants in the US.
The agreements cover three websites in California and 2 in Hawaii, all being operated or created by Clearway.
In California, Wärtsilä has begun construction on BESS systems completing 275MW/1.1 GWh to join the Daggett 2 and also Daggett 3 projects, which have 482MWac of PV and also are adjacent to the website of a retired coal as well as natural gas plant.
The third California project is the already-operational 192MWac Rosamond Central solar ranch, which will be linked to a 147MW/588MWh BESS from Wärtsilä.
In Hawaii, Wärtsilä is set to finalise building and construction this year on two projects amounting to 75MW/300MWh of energy storage space to be mounted at Clearway's Mililani I Solar as well as Waiawa Solar Power projects, which complete 75MWac of PV.
