Cimic Brightens Victoria with 130-MWp Solar Park

Cimic Group has switched on its 130-MWp Glenrowan solar park in Victoria, which will generate around 260 GWh per year enough to power 45,000 Aussie homes. Construction works began in 2021 and it is expected to reach full production capacity by the end of March 2022. The electricity will be sold under a 10-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Victorian government. The plant was energised on schedule, a year after construction works began. Grid connection and services agreements are in place with the Victorian transmission network operator (AusNet) and AEMO. Cimic acquired the Glenrowan project from developer ESCO Pacific in June 2022.

How Has Cimic Group's 130-MWp Solar Park Been Energised?

  • The Cimic Group's 130-MWp Solar Park was energised in January 2021 in the Andalucía region of Spain.
  • The solar park is set to generate 154,000 MWh of clean energy annually and avoid the emission of 128,000 tons of CO2 each year.
  • The project was developed by Cimic’s Spanish subsidiary Acciona Energía and provides electricity to 150,000 households.
  • The park consists of more than 478,000 polycrystalline silicon solar panels and has a surface area of 177 hectares.
  • The project is backed by a €70 million financing package from a consortium of Spanish banks and the European Investment Bank.
  • The solar park also includes a tracker system to optimize power generation and an advanced energy storage system to regulate the supply of electricity to the grid.
