China's Floating PV Power Station: Fishery-Photovoltaic Complementary.
- China's largest floating photovoltaic power station, Anhui Fuyang Southern Wind-solar-storage Base, utilizes flooded coal mining areas to generate renewable energy while protecting the local environment. Offsetting 220,000 tonnes of coal and 580,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide, the 'fishery-photovoltaic complementary' model provides clean energy for 700,000 people daily.
China's largest floating photovoltaic (PV) power station, Anhui Fuyang Southern Wind-solar-storage Base floating PV power station, achieved full capacity grid connection on Wednesday. Located in Fuyang City of east China's Anhui Province, the new PV power station has 1.2 million PV modules and an overall installed gross capacity of 650,000 KW. It is estimated to generate 700 million kWh of power a year, offsetting 220,000 tonnes of standard coal and carbon dioxide by about 580,000 tonnes. In addition, the project includes a 550 MW wind power project and a 300 MW/600 MWh storage power project.
The project also has a ‘Fishery-photovoltaic complementary’ model, which uses the idle water surface in mining subsidence areas to reduce evaporation, suppress the growth of microorganisms and optimize the ecological environment, while the PV components are laid out to absorb solar energy and generate electricity. Hu Lechao, project manager of the Eastern Construction Management Department of the Three Gorges Energy Department, said that the floating PV power station utilizes idle water to save land resources and increases power generation efficiency.
