Capital Power switches on 41-MW solar farm in Alberta
- Canadian power manufacturer Capital Power Corp (TSE: CPX) on Wednesday claimed its 41-MW Strathmore Solar center in Alberta has begun procedures.
The solar park, situated on rented industrial land owned by the community of Strathmore, has a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) to market all of its output and also associated renewable energy credits to TELUS Communications.
This is Capital Power's very first Canadian solar power plant.
For TELUS, Strathmore Solar is its 4th PPA in Alberta. "Combined, these renewable energy resources will aid us achieve 100% net carbon nonpartisanship for our operations by 2030," stated Scott Dutchak, vice president, corporate realty, sustainability and setting at TELUS.
Capital Power will certainly also hold 400-600 sheep from Murmuring Cedars Ranch to graze at the solar park. It said this equally helpful partnership will certainly help in reducing fire risks and maintain the facility well-maintained.
Edmonton, Alberta-based Capital Power has some 6,600 MW of power generation capacity throughout The United States and Canada.
