Cambridge Power gains intending nod for 50MW battery
- Project in Essex replaces a previously recommended natural gas peaking plant at the same site

Cambridge Power has safeguarded intending permission for a 50MW battery storage space project in Essex.
The site, next to the Lawford substation, is the most up to date to safeguard planning permission in Cambridge Power's growing portfolio.
The project forms part of the Brookfield 800MW joint endeavor portfolio.
The storage system changes a previously recommended gas coming to a head plant on the same site.
To date, Cambridge Power has safeguarded planning permission for 259MW of BESS Storage Space with an additional 407.5 MW sent for planning.
Neil Waterson, Head of Planning at Cambridge Power, said: "We are delighted that our application gained the full support of the Planning Committee at Tendring District Council, which reveals their commitment to the relocate to Net Zero.
" We hope to begin building and construction at this site prior to the end of 2023, however, like numerous other business we are needing to endure long hold-ups due to National Grid keeping connections to the grid network, which must be dealt with to assist facilitate more renewable energy right into the grid network to help reach Net Zero targets."
