Brazil's June Solar Generation Sets New Records
- Brazil's solar energy generation hits new heights, breaking records in the Northeast region and meeting 84.5% of energy demand. Solar power dominates with 73.5% of total capacity.

Solar energy generation in Brazil reached two new regional records in June, with solar farms in the Northeast region hitting 9,598 MW and 9,760 MW on June 28 and June 29, respectively. The Ministry of Mines and Energy announced these milestones, with the latter record meeting 84.5% of the region's energy demand at that time. This marks the eighth record broken by the country's solar parks since the beginning of the year, with six of them occurring on the Northeast grid alone.
In 2024, Brazil's total electricity generation capacity increased by 7,946 MW, with solar photovoltaic (PV) plants, including distributed generation (DG) systems, making up 73.5% of the total. The country currently has 43.6 GW of installed solar capacity, according to the national power sector regulator Aneel.
