Brazil's Cemig to deploy 155 MW of solar in Minas Gerais

  • A subsidiary of Brazilian utility Cia Energetica de Minas Gerais SA (BVMF: CMIG4), better called Cemig, has signed design, purchase and building (EPC) contracts for 155 MW of solar projects in the state of Minas Gerais.

Cemig GT inked the contracts with CET Brazil Transmissao de Energia Ltda, a unit of State Grid Corporation of China.

Under the plan, a solar park named Boa Esperanca with a capacity of 85 MW will certainly be constructed in the municipality of Montes Claros, Cemig said in a statement.

The various other project, dubbed Jusante, consists of 7 photovoltaic plants of 10 MW each to be located in the municipality of Sao Goncalo do Abaete.

The two projects have a consolidated Capex of BRL 824 million (USD 161.7 m/EUR 162.8 m), including BRL 447 million for Boa Esperanca as well as BRL 377 million for Jusante.

Energisation of the plants is anticipated to happen by September 2023, Cemig noted.
