Boston Scientific Boosts Europe's Decarbonisation with BayWa Solar VPPA

• BayWa r.e. and Boston Scientific have partnered together to provide renewable energy from the 15.1MW Alcalá solar farm in Seville, Spain. This groundbreaking agreement enables Boston Scientific to match 80% of its electricity consumption in Europe, a step forward for sustainability.

BayWa r.e. has signed a 10-year virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) with global medical technology leader Boston Scientific that will provide renewable electricity from the 15.1MW Alcalá solar farm in Seville, Spain. This is the first VPPA BayWa r.e. has signed with a healthcare company and for Boston Scientific, it is the first VPPA contracted in Europe. The agreement enables the company to match approximately 80% of its electricity consumption in Europe. BayWa r.e. has signed 77 PPAs with a volume of almost 2GW for ground-mounted solar, floating solar and onshore wind projects in Europe, 40% of which are in Spain.
