Boom Power has been granted planning permission for the 25.6MW Crays Hall Solar Farm in Essex, England. The scheme was approved at appeal after a hearing at Basildon Borough Council, with the Inspector noting the potential environmental and biodiversity benefits of the scheme and the lack of suitable alternative sites in the area. The annual generation output could meet the electricity needs of 12,500 family homes, while offsetting 13,300 tonnes of CO2 emissions. Additionally, the scheme would deliver 94% biodiversity net gain and 53% gain for linear habitats, exceeding any local or national requirements.
