BOEM looks for input on 200-MW NextEra solar project in Nevada

  • The US Bureau of Land Management (BLM) on Tuesday opened up a public scoping comment duration in order to gather public input on an up to 200-MW solar project by an unit of NextEra Energy Resources LLC in Nevada's Clark County.

Comments will certainly be accepted throughout a 30-day period, via March 22, 2023. The Department of Interior (DOI) firm said it is inquiring about resources, recreational usages, and also potential recipient sites for off-site mitigation funds.

"BLM welcomes input from the public to aid notify the BLM's growth of the ecological assessment and also regional mitigation strategy for the proposed project," stated Coreen Francis, acting Las Vegas field office supervisor.

The Dry Lake East Energy Center Solar Project is planned to cover 1,635 acres of public land situated some 10 miles northeast of Las Vegas. The project last year won the recommended candidate standing for installation within the Dry Lake East Designated Leasing Area, which is situated on BLM-administered land.

Blvd Associates LLC, a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources, lags the project proposal. According to an initial growth plan launched in January, the solar complex is intended to be appointed in the autumn of 2025 and will certainly be paired with a battery storage system.
