- Yadlamalka Energy has commissioned Australia's first 2-MW/8-MWh vanadium flow battery (VFB) as part of the AUD-22-million Spencer Energy project. With funding from ARENA, the battery will charge from solar energy and off-peak grid imports. A milestone for Australia's energy storage market, Spencer Energy is revolutionising renewable energy technology.

Yadlamalka Energy has completed the civil works and has started the commissioning of a 2-MW/8-MWh vanadium flow battery (VFB) in South Australia. Valued at AUD-22-million, the Spencer Energy project is the first of its kind in Australia. It consists of a 6-MWp solar plant and uses battery systems provided by Invinity Energy Systems Plc. The project has received AUD-5.7-million funding from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA). The battery will charge from excess electricity produced by the solar plant and possibly from off-peak imports from the grid. The commissioning of Spencer Energy represents an important milestone for Australia's energy storage market.
