Ark Energy, a renewable energy developer, has received planning approval for a 300-MW wind farm in Tasmania, marking its first approved project in the state. The project, known as the St Patricks Plains Wind Farm, will consist of 47 turbines and will be located in the Central Highlands region on properties primarily used for livestock grazing and forestry.
The project still requires final consent under the EPBC Act from the Australian Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water. Additionally, Ark Energy has submitted a development application for a 500-MW solar project in New South Wales, which will include a 275-MW/2,200-MWh battery using lithium-iron phosphate technology. Public feedback on the solar project will be collected until August 21, 2024.
