  • The Australian National University (ANU) got an AUD 4.5 million (USD 3.5 million) funding to assist researchers creating a "next-generation solar cell modern technology."

The funding is partially from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency's (ARENA) Australian Centre for Advanced Photovoltaics Infrastructure project (AUD 3.6 million) and is sustained with co-funding from ANU (AUD 0.9 million).

Kean Chern Fong and his team will get AUD 3.1 million for a brand-new nano-engineering research laboratory. The lab will help create new materials to boost the conversion of solar power to electrical energy in photovoltaic or pv devices, according to an announcement. Fong says this laboratory will help Australian scientists set the pace when it comes to concurrently minimizing price and enhancing efficiency in solar cells, in addition to the development of unique photovoltaic or pv concepts.

Hieu Nguyen and also his group have actually obtained AUD 1 million for tools which will allow scientists to more specifically gauge light absorbed as well as released from solar products. "This technology will mean we can move a step more detailed to open the full capacity of photovoltaics as a clean, budget-friendly, as well as sustainable energy source," stated Nguyen.

Partner Professor Tom White's team has been awarded AUD 0.4 million for an advanced perovskite processing ability device. It will be made use of to establish high-efficiency tandem solar cells that integrate silicon solar cells with perovskites.
