AMEA Power Expands Egypt's Renewable Energy Capacity by 2GW

Dubai-based AMEA Power has been approved to connect 2,000 MW of renewable energy capacity to Egypt's power grid by summer 2025. The approval was granted by Egypt's Council of Ministers, with projects including adding 500 MW of solar energy to the Abydos solar project and constructing the 500-MW Amunet wind farm in Ras Ghareb. The Abydos project is 75% complete, with over 450,000 solar panels and 350 MW of trackers installed in Aswan. The Amunet wind farm is set to come online in 2025, along with a battery energy storage system.
