Alfanar to develop 110-MW solar park to power Saudi water desalination plant

- Saudi Arabia's Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) has actually chosen local building business Alfanar to set up a 110-MW solar park that perseverance the Al Jubail 2 water desalination plant on the eastern coast of the kingdom.

The implementation of solar power at the site is targeted at cutting carbon dioxide emissions by 155 megatonnes yearly and decreasing electrical power consumption. The clean electrical energy from the solar park will also displace the consumption of 410,000 barrels of petroleum every year at the water desalination plant which has a production ability of up to 1 million cubic metres per day.
