- Nairobi-based apparel maker United Aryan EPZ (UAL) revealed today that it has inaugurated a 1.8-MWp rooftop solar array, saying that it the largest system of its kind in East Africa.

The solar (PV) system contains 3,334 photovoltaic panels as well as has an approximated annual power outcome of 2.3 GWh, sufficient to enable United Aryan to minimize its carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 33,100 tonnes.
The rooftop plant will help UAL lower its power expenses by up to 72%, and also save around USD 5.3 million (EUR 4.8 m) during the system's lifecycle, according to the news.
Premier Solar Solutions, the Kenyan subsidiary of Starsight Premier Energy Group, was employed as the design, procurement and building (EPC) contractor.
Pan-African Energy-as-a-service (EaaS) business Solarise Africa offered the full-service industrial option to fund the PV project.
