This programme is being run by Historic Environment Scotland, which picked AES to install the all-black 375W SunPower panels on the roofing of the structure.

The 31.5 kWp system is surrounded by a high parapet, indicating the panels aren't noticeable from the castle premises or other vantage points within the city.

It marks the 2nd installment at a historical royal website by AES, the very first being solar thermal mounted at Balmoral Castle Royal Estate.

AES handling director George Goudsmit claimed: "I'm sure the remainder of the team will certainly join me in stating they will certainly never fairly view Edinburgh Castle the very same once more. Rather, we will take fantastic satisfaction in understanding we were the business that mounted photovoltaic panels on Edinburgh Castle.

" The skies's the limit now that historic structures can be part of the option to internet zero in Scotland."

The business opened up an office in Edinburgh in 2018, with this being its first location outside of its native Forres, Moray, where its head workplace and manufacturing center is based. The exact same year, it partnered EV charging and battery storage space vendor Phuse Energy.
