  • ACEN Australia's Birriwa solar-plus-storage project approved to power 262,000 homes in New South Wales with 600 MW of clean energy and integrated battery storage.

Acen Australia, a subsidiary of Ayala's ACEN Corp, has received approval to build a 600-MW solar park with an integrated battery in New South Wales' Central-West Orana region. The project, known as the Birriwa solar-plus-storage project, was recommended for approval by the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure and has now been given the green light by the state's Independent Planning Commission.

The solar park will cover 1,200 acres of cleared grazing land and is expected to produce electricity for approximately 262,000 homes in Australia annually. The project will also include a battery energy storage system with a capacity of 600 MW, providing two hours of storage capacity to help meet high demand periods. Construction is anticipated to take around 28 months to complete.
