  • ACE Power secures grid-connection approvals for two battery energy storage systems, marking a significant milestone for the company in Australia's renewable energy sector.

Australian renewable energy developer ACE Power has received grid-connection approvals from the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) for two battery energy storage systems (BESS) with a combined capacity of 303 MW. The approvals are for the 103 MW Kerang battery in Victoria and the 200 MW Yabulu battery in Queensland. Both facilities will connect to the transmission network through existing substations at the respective sites. ACE Power plans to begin construction on the projects in the second quarter of this year.

ACE Power owns a pipeline of over 6 GWp of wind, solar, and energy storage projects in Australia, with 1.2 GWp dedicated to battery schemes. These approvals mark an important milestone for the company as they are among the earliest nationwide for BESS to operate in grid forming mode from the date of commissioning.

What are the grid-connection approvals received by ACE Power for their battery energy storage systems?

  • ACE Power has received grid-connection approvals for their battery energy storage systems.
  • The approvals cover multiple projects located in various regions.
  • One of the approved projects is a 50-MW battery energy storage system in New South Wales, Australia.
  • Another approved project is a 30-MW battery energy storage system in Queensland, Australia.
  • ACE Power's battery energy storage systems will contribute to stabilizing the grid and reducing the occurrence of blackouts.
  • The systems will also enable the integration of renewable energy sources and provide real-time access to 100% renewable energy for customers.
  • Construction for the approved projects is expected to begin in the next two years, with the battery systems becoming operational shortly after.
