European Energy A/S has won approval from Italy’s Puglia Region to construct a 90-MW solar farm in the municipality of Cerano. The project, undertaken by the company through its subsidiary Cerano Energreen, is expected to generate enough energy to power 55,500 households. The solar park will utilize tracker panels on 35 hectares of land and will also involve reforestation plans and infrastructure upgrades. The project will be undertaken by the company's executive vice president and head of project development, Thorvald Spanggaard. This is part of European Energy’s larger goal to develop renewable energy in all regions of Italy.
What Impact Will European Energy's 90-MW Solar Farm Have in Italy?
- The 90-MW solar farm is expected to generate a total of at least 166 GWh of clean energy per year.
- The solar farm will create a significant number of local job opportunities, allowing for the development and training of personnel employed in the renewable energy sector.
- In addition to the solar farm, European Energy is investing in various infrastructure upgrades in the municipality of Cerano, such as a new power grid and water supply.
- The solar farm is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 80,000 tonnes of CO2 per year, which is the equivalent of removing approximately 48,000 cars from the roads.
- European Energy is also planning to plant more than 1,000 trees in the region to offset the environmental impact of the solar farm.
- The solar farm is estimated to generate more than €5 million in revenue for the local community over the next 20 years, providing a much needed economic boost to the region.
