An unspecified mishap occurred on July 24 at German chemical producer Wacker's polysilicon manufacturing facility in Tennessee, according to reports by numerous United States media electrical outlets.

" The incident occurred as 4 service providers executed maintenance service non-operating equipment in among the procedure structures," the firm claimed in a declaration to pv publication. "The workers were servicing a pipe which was out of procedure. The four specialists were immediately transferred to the health center facilities for assessment."

The firm claimed that the issue did not impact the regional setting or the bordering neighborhood in Charleston, Tennessee. But polysilicon expert Johannes Bernreuter stated that the case is the latest in a series of problems that began a couple of months after the manufacturing facility started manufacturing in early 2016.

"For such a well established as well as experienced polysilicon producer as Wacker, 5 incidents-- consisting of a major surge-- at its U.S. plant within four years are embarrassing," Bernreuter said.

In mid-July, one more polysilicon producer, China-base GCL-Poly, was hit by a series of explosions at its GCL Silicon polysilicon plant. The mishap has apparently gotten rid of greater than 10% of the world's polysilicon materials from manufacturing.
