What is Feed-in-tariff?
The rate specified for paying to renewable (mostly solar and wind) power producers for the electricity generated. According to net metering programs, plant owners get paid by utility companies for the excess electricity they inject to the public grid. Under gross metering, renewable energy producers are paid for all the electricity generated by their installations.
