Commonly refers to GHG emissions from fossil fuel combustion. However, can also be related to other kinds of pollutants. Thus, during coal combustion, the following harmful substances are released: CO2, SO2, a group of NOx, particulate matter, Hg, Pb, CO, As, and hydrocarbons, which includes carcinogens as well as VOCs contributing to ground-level ozone formation.
