NV Energy holds tender for large-scale green energy projects
Nevada utility has launched a tender for new green power projects. This follows approval of 1.19GW of photovoltaic power and 590MW of energy storage capacity by PUCN. The facilities are to be constructed and become operational by the turn of the year 2023/24.  The bidders are welcome to submit offers for not only PV, but also wind, biogas, biomass and geothermal energy plants. The projects are to be in line with the state’s existing RPS. The tenderers may also propose battery storage projects either for integration with power plants or as standalone solutions. NV is going to evaluate the proposals based on a range of factors such as the most attractive tariff for consumers and the most favorable benefits for the state.  The offers are to be submitted no later than the 9th of March. The winning project will have to be approved by the Commission. The facilities are scheduled to be commissioned and come into operation by the start of the year 2024.  NV Energy announced its plans to add almost 1.2 gigawatts of photovoltaic and 590 megawatts of storage capacity in early summer of the past year. The projects are being deployed under the utility’s target to supply fully renewable power to its customers.
