Toyota & EneCoat: Carbon-Neutral Automotive PSCs
- EneCoat and Toyota Motor Corporation join forces to develop and commercialize highly efficient automotive perovskite solar cells to contribute to achieving carbon neutrality. Their joint venture seeks to advance renewable energy, self-sufficiency, and power generation efficiency.
EneCoat Technologies and Toyota Motor Corporation have announced a collaboration to develop and commercialize automotive perovskite solar cells (PSCs), with the shared objective of advancing carbon neutrality. PSCs offer high efficiency, a thin form factor, and light weight, making them suitable for the automotive industry. EneCoat, a start-up established in 2018, specializes in high-efficiency perovskite solar cells and has successfully developed film-type cells with impressive output. It is also participating in the government's Green Innovation Fund Project for carbon neutrality.
Toyota, in pursuit of its "Toyota Environmental Challenge 2050," aims for carbon-free electricity self-sufficiency and is actively exploring in-vehicle solar power generation systems using crystalline silicon cells. The partnership between the two companies aims to enhance power generation efficiency and reduce costs by integrating EneCoat's perovskite solar cell technologies with Toyota's in-vehicle solar panel expertise. Their joint efforts seek to promote renewable energy self-sufficiency and contribute to the realization of carbon neutrality.
By leveraging their respective strengths, EneCoat Technologies and Toyota Motor Corporation strive to accelerate the practical application of automotive perovskite solar cells, ultimately fostering a future where renewable energy plays a crucial role in achieving carbon neutrality.
