French renewable power plants operator Voltalia SA has been chosen by Irish state-owned energy company ESB as the EPC contractor for a 57-MW solar farm project in County Longford. The Middleton House project, with a multi-million euro investment, will be located northeast of Lanesborough and will generate enough electricity for over 15,000 homes.
The photovoltaic farm will connect via a new 5-km cable route along a disused peat rail line and existing infrastructure at the site. Construction is set to begin in September, following the project's success in Ireland's RESS 2 auction. Financial details of the contract award were not disclosed in the press statement.
