- Voltalia secures PPA with Co-op for 34-MW Eastgate solar project in Northern England. Co-op to purchase green energy for 15 years, enough to power 170 food stores and 500 funeralcare homes, helping reach net zero operations by 2035.
Voltalia has secured an off-taker for its 34-MW Eastgate solar project in Northern England. The power purchase agreement with British consumer co-operative Co-op will supply green power to its client’s facilities for 15 years. Co-op will buy the entire output of the solar park, which will be equipped with 62,500 photovoltaic (PV) panels and generate 34,000 MWh of electricity annually. This is enough to cover 7.5% of Co-op's total electricity needs, and power 170 food stores and 500 funeralcare homes. The PPA is in line with Co-op's goal of achieving net zero operations by 2035.
