Switzerland to mount solar systems on federal buildings
- Switzerland is intending to establish solar systems on all suitable roof and facade areas of government administration buildings by 2034.

The strategy was approved by the Federal Council on Wednesday. The price of outfitting federal buildings with solar panels in the following twelve years is approximated at about CHF 143.4 million (USD 144.66 m/EUR 144.13 m). The brand-new capacity is expected to bring about a six-fold rise in solar energy generation to 87 GWh annually from 13 GWh currently.
The Federal Building and also Real Estate Agency (BLO) and also the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO) will certainly monitor the growth as well as report about its status on their websites.
The decision comes less than a month after Switzerland accepted a variety of procedures that make the installation of solar panels on some new structures obligatory and also simplify rules for the building and construction of massive solar (PV) plants in the Alps.
