The site will consist of batteries for energy storage and also biodiversity enhancements, with an approximated 141% biodiversity net gain expected from steps including 10 hectares of new meadow grassland, over 3.5 hectares of woodland, new or restored hedgerows, 5 new hedgehog homes as well as nearly 50 birdboxes.

" We're delighted that the Planning Committee at South Cambridgeshire recognised this wonderful possibility to contribute to the decarbonisation of the UK's power supply as well as authorized the Stargoose Solar Energy Farm today," claimed Gareth Hawkins, UK business development supervisor.

" Additionally, as a result of today's authorization, we want to supply building employment opportunities for neighborhood people, and financial investment will be generated for the local community and ecological projects."

The Stargoose solar farm brings Statkraft an action more detailed to its target of 600MW of renewable projects in the UK by 2025.

In February, the Norwegian energy giant submitted a planning application for the 49.9 MW Soay Solar Farm in Yorkshire, while in 2021 it revealed 3 brand-new utility-scale solar energy farms in the UK with a total combined capacity of 125.5 MWp.

Statkraft went into the UK solar programmer market for the first time in June 2020, via a Joint Development Agreement with solar programmer UK Power Associates.
