GES to build 97MW solar plant for Engie in Chile
15 October: GES has been chosen to build a 162MW wind famr and a 97MW solar farm in the Antofogasta region of Chile for energy giant Engie.
The Calama Wind Farm and the Capricorn Photovoltaic Plant are the first two renewable projects that the utility will build in Chile.
The Capricorn PV Plant will be located 35 km from the city of Antofagasta, with GES in charge of the EPC.
Sterling & Wilson bags 200MW EPC order in Australia
15 October: Indian EPC giant Sterling & Wilson has bagged am EPC contract for a 200MW solar farm in Australia.
The contract for the project to be built by company subsidiary Sterling & Wilson Solar Australia is worth close to AU$221 million (US$149 million).
BHEL tenders for Floating solar equipment at Indian coal plant
15 October: Indian firm BHEL has tendered for floatation platforms and accessories with mooring and anchoring for 25MW of floating solar at NTPC Simhadri, in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
NTPC Simhadri is a coal-fired power station located in the outskirts of Visakhapatnam city run by India’s largest utility NTPC
The deadline for submissions in the tender is 30 October this year.
ACC and Hyperion for JV in Hong Kong
16 October: Asia Clean Capital (ACC) and Hyperion Solar have formed a joint venture (JV) to develop solar PV projects in Hong Kong and Macau.
ACC Solar Hong Kong Limited (ACC Solar HK) will take advantage of Hong Kong’s feed-in-tariff (FiT) scheme introduced in 2018, as well policy commitments regarding renewable energy, climate risk mitigation, and innovation. Hong Kong also has a long-term decarbonization strategy making investment opportunities attractive.
The JV is developing a pre-identified pipeline of projects and working to collaborate with public and private sector asset owners and other stakeholders to accelerate the growth of the solar market and increase the percentage of renewable energy in Hong Kong's energy mix.
Hyperion Solar Limited is partly owned by Helios Renewable Energy Limited, a Hong Kong-based solar advisory and development company founded in 2015.
