Romania Allocates €70M for Solar and Battery Projects

Romania's Energy Ministry has allocated nearly EUR 70 million in grants to boost solar photovoltaic (PV) manufacturing and battery energy storage systems (BESS). This funding comes under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) and includes a significant investment of EUR 32.9 million to Helomit Srl for a 1.5-GW solar panel factory in Barlad, Vaslui County.

Additionally, subsidies will support five battery storage projects that will collectively add around 800 MWh of capacity. Key projects include a EUR 9.9 million grant for a 300-MWh battery in Ialomita County and a EUR 6.1 million grant for a 121.9-MWh facility in Giurgiu County, aimed at meeting Romania's energy storage needs.
