SEG Solar Expands US PV Output With Tomball #1

  • SEG Solar opens Tomball #1, a 4GW U.S. solar module plant near Houston—$200M investment, up to 800 jobs, and tech-ready for HJT upgrades—boosting capacity to 10.6GW.

SEG Solar inaugurated its second U.S. photovoltaic module plant, Tomball #1, in the Greater Houston area of Texas. The facility has 4 gigawatts of annual manufacturing capacity and covers nearly 500,000 square feet. SEG Solar said it has invested more than $200 million and expects up to 800 jobs. The plant was officially opened Aug. 7, 2026, with commercial operations scheduled for the third quarter. Designed for future upgrades, it can integrate new manufacturing technologies, including heterojunction or HJT, to improve quality, traceability and delivery speed.

With Tomball #1 online, SEG Solar’s total U.S. module capacity rises to 6 GW per year, alongside its existing Houston plant with 2 GW capacity. The company is also building a third Greater Houston factory aimed at 4.6 GW annual production across about 1.15 million square feet. Construction is expected to finish in March 2027, with commercial output set to start in May 2027. Once operational, SEG Solar expects combined U.S. capacity of about 10.6 GW, as part of its localization strategy.
