Oracle Power PLC has initiated a transmission and grid interconnection study for its planned 1.3-GW renewables hub in southern Pakistan, which will include solar and wind parks along with energy storage. The project is being developed in collaboration with China Electric Power Equipment and Technology Co Ltd, with the study being conducted by local consultancy Power Planners International. The expenses for the study will be covered by State Grid China.
The renewables hub, to be located in the village of Jhimpir in Sindh Province, will consist of an 800-MW solar site, a 500-MW wind farm, and a battery energy storage system. The power generated will be connected to the National Grid through the Network of National Transmission & Dispatch Company, with power evacuation facilitated through the existing Jhimpir-II Grid station. The study is expected to propel the project into the FEED stage and lay the groundwork for future off-take and financing arrangements.
