Phelan Energy-owned company completes 75-MW solar project in S Africa

- South African renewable energy firm Solar Capital Orange (Pty) Ltd has begun the commercial operation of a 75-MW solar power plant in the Northern Cape province, it introduced today.

The solar park concerned lies in Loeriesfontein and also has a straight existing (DC) capacity of 86.25 MW. Since it is linked to the grid, it can create adequate power to supply countless homes as well as organizations in the region, the developer said in a declaration.
The project was totally equity funded by Solar Capital's parent company, the Phelan Energy Group (PEG). It will currently carry out a refinancing program.
Cape Town-based PEG is totally possessed by the Irish Phelan family members. It is an international solar programmer with greater than 500 MW of grid-connected capacity.
