The stock-listed business is partnering with regional renewable resource company Reon Energy to build the 34MW solar PV project with storage at its Pezu plant, located in the north province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The storage will certainly enhance the reliability of the power supply to the plant by raveling the intermittency of the solar PV plant and also enable a rapid response in case of a decrease in power supply.

Journalism launch asserted the solar PV at the Pezu plant will certainly be the biggest 'on-site' solar project in the country as well as the energy storage space system will certainly be the largest as well.

Noman Hasan, Executive Director, Lucky Cement, stated: "Considering the international ecological difficulties, it is very important to invest in such modern technologies, particularly on the commercial level. Being a sector leader we recognize our responsibility in the direction of the atmosphere and also through such financial investments, we are committed to making sure a sustainable future."

Reon Energy will provide its Reflex energy storage system for the project. It claimed Lucky Cement is the third company in the country to acquire the option.

On its website, Reon describes Reflex as a customisable energy storage space solution with a lithium-ion battery and also a 15-20 year typical lifetime. The firm has established its own energy administration system (EMS) platform called SPARK which it claims has actually been designed to maximise efficiency, decrease threat and to enhance system flexibility in order to enhance the levelised expense of energy (LCoE).

Energy storage space is at an extremely beginning in the Pakistan market. Among the nation's independent transmission & circulation (T&D) facilities operators NTDC released a tender for a 20MW BESS pilot project in September last year.
