French telecommunications company Orange SA has signed a corporate power purchase agreement (CPPA) with solar-storage developer ZE Energy for 77 MWp of solar power in southwestern France. The agreement will provide Orange with 90 GWh of electricity for 15 years, primarily for its networks and infrastructure facilities. The solar park, located in Vert, will also include a battery energy storage system.
The Vert hybrid park is expected to start generating electricity in early 2025 and will be connected to the Enedis network. Orange CEO Jean-Francois Fallacher highlighted the benefits of the PPA, which will provide competitive renewable energy and allow for energy storage to avoid losses. ZE Energy has secured EUR 52 million in senior debt financing for the project, with a total investment estimated at EUR 84 million.
