NTPC Floats to Record Low: Wins 80MW Project at INR 3.80/kWh

NTPC is also expected to set up a battery energy storage system and the Madhya Pradesh government will bear the cost of INR 30 million for the same.
NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NREL), a subsidiary firm of energy giant NTPC, has won the 80 MW floating solar project tender floated by Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited (RUMSL), a joint venture between Solar Energy Corporation of India and MP Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd. The firm has won the bid at an impressive rate of INR 3.80 kWh. The tendering process was conducted on August 8, 2023.
The power generated from the project will be supplied to Madhya Pradesh discoms. To maximize the output, NTPC will also set up a battery energy storage system and the Madhya Pradesh government will bear the cost of INR 30 million for the same. This is a major step towards achieving the government’s target of providing sustainable, clean and affordable energy to all.
