- Narita International Airport Corp (NAA), driver of the airport in Japan's Chiba prefecture, is planning a 180-MW solar project to be created by a new 50/50 joint venture with gas utility Tokyo Gas Co Ltd (TYO:9531).

The JV, named Green Energy Frontier, is expected to commence operations in April after taking control of the airport's energy supply centers, Tokyo Gas announced on Monday.
Green Energy Frontier will certainly spend JPY 100 billion (USD 743m/EUR 698m) by 2050 in order to finance new energy nuclear power plant, including the abovementioned project. It expects to finish a 75-MW portion of the scheme by March 2031, and the rest by March 2045.
Tokyo Gas noted that the photovoltaic panels could be implemented in a 200-hectare (494 acres) area near runways and on top of structures at the airport.
