European Energy strategies 120-MW electrolyser for Power-to-X project in Aalborg
- Renewables programmer European Energy and also Denmark's biggest inland port, the Port of Aalborg, have actually signed a pact that imagines the building and construction of a 120-MW electrolysis plant and also an associated e-methanol production facility.
Under the terms of a newly-signed letter of intent, European Energy will certainly get an option for a 25-hectare area at the Eastern Port in Aalborg. There, the business plans to build a facility to generate some 75,000 statistics tonnes of e-methanol annually for use in the transportation sector.
European Energy mentioned that the brand-new project will be approximately two times the size of the plant it is presently establishing in Aabenraa, Southern Denmark. The business wants to obtain the thumbs-up to construct solar parks in the instant area of the new Power-to-X plant. Its purpose is to begin service the project already in 2022 in order to have the facility up and running in 2025.
" [...] we remain in the procedure of checking out the market for possible carbon sources, which looks truly encouraging. Yet we will certainly also function to enter into more symbioses with the close-by area by, among other points, providing surplus warm to Aalborg's area heating network. We estimate that we will certainly have the ability to provide approximately 10% of the heat that usually originates from the warmth and power plant Nordjylland Power Station, indicating we can contribute in the plant's phase-out of coal," commented Emil Vikjaer-Andresen, Head of Power-to-X at European Energy.
