- Chilean utility Engie Energia Chile SA stated on Thursday it had actually been issued a license to start commercial operation of its 114-MW (AC) Tamaya solar farm.
The plant, fully had by the utility, lies in the district of Tocopilla, north Chile. It is composed of close to 299,000 solar panels and capable of powering over 50,000 homes, the business said.
Tamaya is one of several renewable resource projects that Engie Chile began as part of its prep work to leave coal-fired power generation by 2025. The business intends to replace coal-fired power plants with 2,000 MW of renewables and transform the latest coal-burning units to gas or biomass.
Engie Energia Chile is a subsidiary of French utility team Engie SA (EPA: ENGI).
